THE JOB: Entry-level assistant to both office manager and owner of small bay area construction company. Filing, organizational projects, tidying, light phones and messages, occasional errands (hardware store, groceries, etc), communication from "home base" when the owner and/or myself are out in the field. Also some minimal to moderate computer work and typing if so inclined. The preceding is a combination of business and household/personal-related tasks.
OUR LOCATION: Technically La Honda, but really more aptly described as the border of Palo Alto (3 miles south of Page Mill Road), just off of Skyline Blvd (Highway 35). Home, office, and "shop" on same property. Three lovely horses, also three big harmless dogs, and two independent cats. Beautiful location.
SCHEDULE: Part-time. Two or three good solid days per week, or 3-4 half days. Flexible within reason, but must have an agreed upon, somewhat regular schedule that we can count on. Great position for student if you are not already over-committed. We can discuss this one.
THE KIND OF PERSON WE'RE LOOKING FOR TO FILL THIS POSITION: If you are responsible, reliable, punctual, honest, trustworthy, hard-working, teachable, and FUN, we are interested in hearing from you. We all have a ridiculous sense of humor around here, so if you take yourself too seriously, you might like to investigate other opportunities. Must have own transportation to and from work. Must enjoy this sort of location: big open space isn't for everyone, and we want someone who really wants to be here as a part of our team.
EXPERIENCE: If your brain enjoys organizing, multi-tasking, and you take direction well, we are happy to train you. It's all up to you.
YOUR LOCATION: That's really your call, but we'd certainly prefer someone who doesn't feel put-upon or inconvenienced. To give you a general idea, Redwood City, San Carlos, and Menlo Park are all about 40-45 minutes away from our location. However, if you have a compelling story and a strong desire for this position, we'd be happy to entertain the idea of someone a little farther away.
ABSOLUTELY NON-NEGOTIABLE: You MUST have the legal right to be in the United States. You MUST have the legal right to work in this country. You MUST have the legal right to drive a motor vehicle to and from work, which means that you MUST have a California state-issued driver's license (unless you have recently relocated here from another state).
LANGUAGE: MUST have a good command of the english language. If you also speak some spanish, all the better, though not required.
PAY: $12-$14 per hour, dependent upon experience. Potential for growth if you prove that you are an asset to this team.
