Description The Volunteer Center Serving San Francisco and San Mateo Counties seeks an experienced youth outreach coordinator.

The Volunteer Center’s programs help youth, people with disabilities, and others to become involved in their communities at over 1,000 nonprofit agencies that provide vital services. The Volunteer Center provides linkage, training and resources to nonprofits to increase their capacity to engage volunteers in the work they do for the community.


The Youth Outreach Coordinator will:

Lead youth outreach and placement to help young people of all backgrounds find volunteer opportunities which allow them to address real community problems while helping them achieve specific educational and personal growth goals.



Essential Job Functions:

• Through classroom presentations recruit and place 45+ young people with disabilities in individual or group volunteer opportunities annually.

• Coordinate and facilitate the Summer Career Exploration Program, an eight-week group volunteer program with 15 youth participants.

• Help to develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with volunteer coordinators, teachers and community agencies.

• Actively seek volunteer placements, internships, and service learning opportunities in appropriate community-based organizations.

• Conduct general youth outreach to community agencies in both San Francisco and San Mateo counties.

• Coordinate and oversee all aspects of two pilot youth service programs including recruiting, training and supervising interns.

• Develop annual action plan to achieve job purpose and program goals.

• Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as needed.

• Provide community response coordination in the event of a Bay Area disaster.


Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience

• Experience working with youth with disabilities

• Public speaking

• Superior interpersonal skills and effectiveness in oral and written communication

• Community service/volunteer experience

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

• Reports to Volunteer Services Manager



Compensation:

• $30K-$32K DOE
