| So my friend and I decided to check out the scence in Oakland by trying Womyn's Quarter on Friday night. Though the latin room was popping the hip hop room felt like a meat market. There were too many unwelcome men and not enough people dancing. The DJ wasn't playing good stuff until the strippers/ dancers went on stage. When they were performing all the females went out of control and were disrepectful of the ladies. I suggest Cream although it's in the city the atomsphere is much more condusive to hanging out and dancing . As two girls born and raised in Oakland we wanted to rep our city but Womyn's Quarters was too ghetto and unorganized. This is a critique of the club because they were perpetuating the stereo-type that we as women of color (in Oakland) have been fighting against. Hopefully there will be a chill place for us to go to in the area, as for now I think we'll stick to Cream. Peace!
