World Class wine company seeks dynamic, experienced, and business savvy individual to drive sales efforts in California.
Job Description:
• Call directly on key retail and on-premise accounts to achieve distribution levels in the areas of shelf space, features and displays, as well as wine by-the-glass, wine list placement etc
• Effectively communicate to our distributors, company sales and distribution objectives, brand priorities and merchandising expectations, and ensure that distributor efforts are consistent with these goals and priorities.
• Educate distributor salespeople about company brands and motivate distributor management and their sales force to execute on all company programs and achieve company desired sales and distribution goals.
• Submit relevant, meaningful and timely suggestions to the Manager regarding pricing and programming.
• Communicate regularly with Manager supplying information regarding distributor execution on programs, performance versus sales goals, and general market and competitive brand intelligence. This position will also supply required administrative information to include expense reports, monthly itinerary, monthly A/R statements, and distributor meeting recaps, competitive information, monthly market reports, distributor commitments and other reports as requested by their Manager.
• Monitor the Company’s expenditures to ensure that spending is within budget.
• Ensure that the distributors carry sufficient inventory of product to properly service the market and avoid out-of-stocks, and that orders are placed with sufficient lead-times to maximize program execution.
. Prepare and execute monthly and annual business reviews with distributor management, request and manage monthly quotas, create and manage incentive programs.
• Participate in trade events (retail and/or consumer) such as tasting events, shows, wine-tasting dinners etc.
• Participate in “crew drives” in markets outside the primary area, as needed.
• Ensure that promotional and point-of-sale material are ordered in a timely manner, in sufficient quantity, and used effectively. Recommend (or be responsible and handle directly in some markets) quantities and timing of when additional POS needs to be ordered.
• Ensure that all activities are conducted within the State and Federal laws.
• Be responsible for the servicing and maintenance of all Company assets.
• Achieve competency in company tools and software
Qualifications:
Experience selling to Suppliers and/or Distributors and chains.
Distributor sales management experience
Proven success as a self starting highly motivated individual
Strong oral and written communication skills
Six years industry experience
Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to travel extensively (to 60%)
Strong familiarity with wine distribution operating systems
Bachelors Degree or equivalent business experience
