Description Join Keynote as a Systems Engineer and be part of a growing team that runs Keynote's critical infrastructure systems. We are looking for a self-starting, highly motivated individual with exceptional communication skills. The ideal candidate will possess a broad background encompassing Windows and Linux experience. This position is part of an on-call rotation requiring 24x7 availability approximately one-fourth of the time in weeklong stretches.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Assisting in defining the technological future of a market-leading company by providing input on Keynote's system architecture standards and mentoring others in the art and science of system design
  • Gathering system requirements from all departments and creating solutions to meet those needs in a reliable, scalable and supportable manner
  • Collaborating with Engineering and other departments to craft solutions to complex technical issues
  • Deploying and maintaining enterprise class servers and overseeing critical production systems
  • Assisting in setting and enforcing an enterprise-wide information system policies and standards
    Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of five years of systems administration experience within a medium to large mixed Windows and UNIX environment, preferably working in a production web environment at an online service provider or e-commerce company.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows 2003 and Red Hat Linux/Enterprise Linux.
  • Proficiency with IIS and Active Directory.
  • Knowledge of an enterprise monitoring system such as HP Openview or Tivoli.
  • Experience with tape backups such as Legato, Netbackup, or equivalent backup software.
  • Experience detecting and correcting potential security holes in mixed environment of UNIX and windows systems.
  • Familiarity with Compaq/HP systems such as DL360s, DL380s and their supporting applications such as Insight Manager.
  • Must be able to independently lift 50 pounds and to install and maintain server equipment in standard 7-foot tall racks
  • Must be able to adjust priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science preferred •
  • MCSE, RHCE, or other industry certification.
    Other Desirable Skills and Experience:
  • Experience designing, implementing, benchmarking, and tuning enterprise-class servers
  • C/C++ programming
  • Experience building and maintaining clustered Windows or Linux servers
  • Experience interoperating Unix and Windows systems together in a heterogeneous environment.
  • Perl, shell, or other scripting experience
