Do we really have to read this?? Why do I care about some 25-year-old's expenses? If it's too expensive for you here, then move to Iowa. Isn't this a site for individuals looking for CARING people to care for their children? Don't complain on Craigs List about poor you and how you're not making $50 an hour as a nanny. I think it's pathetic. At 25, I had no money for savings, had a mediocre car and was trying to make ends meet. You know what, this is real life. Not life in college or graduate school. This is life in the expensive Bay Area. Both members of the family have to work in this place now because it is so damn expensive it's hard for PARENTS to get a meal on the table for their family. They're just trying to find the best childcare for their kids instead of going through an agency for $6,000... which is ridiculous.
Like I said, the EDUCATED nannies are the worst! They don't want to do anything but say how educated and great they are and how they HATE doing the nanny job. (Oh, but it pays well and it's flexible) Waaaaaaaaaaaaa...I'm so deprived I can't go to the hottest restaurant in town. I've experienced it. These people don't give a DAMN about the kids.
I see that no one is hiring you because you're spending hours on Craigs List for a job that does not EXIST in the Bay Area. The people that can afford that much wouldn't even touch you here so get over yourself!
And for most residents here in the Bay Area(I see it is getting harsher every day)...the property taxes alone can amount to $10,000 per year. Try to feed your family, (oh yes, and the nanny), pay your mortgage, car expenses, kids clothing, heating the house, water, etc. and work more than 60 hours a week (both parents). Try that on for size!
Don't come crying to this list how deprived you are! No one wants to hear it!
