Please check out the FAQ below.

Why should I get this instead of a rear mounted seat?

The WeeRide Centric centre-mounted bicycle child carrier provides a much more enjoyable and interactive experience for the child and rider. I’ve installed a mirror on my handlebars which allows my daughter and me to see each others faces.  She’s about 22 months old, so she doesn’t have all the words to describe what she’s feeling. But being able to see her smile tells all.

The center of gravity is positioned in the middle of the bike, where it should be. I feel that this allows for a much more stable ride than that of a rear mounted model. Everybody is different, so you may not actually be or feel safer, but I do.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1) Is there a limit on how large my child could be?

Maximum weight 40 lb./18 kg, at a minimum 1 year old (must be able to hold her head up).

2) Is there a maximum height my child could be?

The only constraints on the height of a child are that their knees must fit under the handlebars. Small 7-year olds have been accommodated by the seat.

3) You say that this fits MOST bicycles... how can I tell if it will fit mine? What if I buy it and it does NOT fit my bike?

If you buy one and it doesn't fit, I will refund your purchase as long as you haven’t wrecked the box and all the parts and instructions are intact and damage free. The makers of Weeride have tried the child carrier on a wide range of different bicycles. The only bicycles that this seat does not fit on are bicycles with drop bars, or racing (curled) handlebars.

4) Why can't I use it on my racing (drop-handled) bicycle?

With racing handlebars, the rider leans forward too much for the child to sit comfortably.

5) Once it is on my bike, do I have to take it off?

No. You can remove the child carrier itself from the steel support bar quite easily - it is attached by a single thumb screw - for putting the bike on a carrier, or if you wish to ride without the carrier. The bar on which the carrier is mounted remains on the bicycle and does not interfere with normal riding.

6) How easy/hard is it to install?

You should be able to do it yourself in about 20 minutes if you are used to working on your bike. If you cannot install it, your dealer or bicycle repair shop can do it for you.

7) How much does it weigh?

Installed weight is just over 7lbs/3.2Kgs.

8) Do I put my child in the carrier before I get on the bike or after? What is the procedure?

This is a personal preference. Due to the position of the carrier, the bicycle is quite stable with the child in it.

9) What if I have to replace a part?

Please contact Kent International the makers of Weeride.

10) I noticed that there are two different types of Weeride center mounted seat available on the Kent International website, a grey one and a blue and yellow one. Which one is better?

The grey Weeride is the older model. The blue and yellow Weeride is the newer model.  Each seats’ specifications are the same. The carrying capacity of 40 pounds is also the same. One main difference is that the foot rests are adjustable on the newer model. The other difference is price. Although each seat is equal in quality, the manufacturing process for the newer model is less expensive, so each unit sells for less.
