ESPN Video Games: (Database Consulting / Web Development):

Database consultant: I was contacted to consult with ESPN video games when their single MySQL database server was crashing shortly after opened advance sales of a popular video game. Initial investigation showed that they were hosting several databases on their web server (sales, ad tracking, content and bulletin boards) and that by turning off some services of their website, sales could be re-continued until clustering could be put in place. I migrated their databases to MySQL 4.0 (from 3.23) and set up a unique clustered environment to best serve their needs, and re-fractored their PEAR classes to support this configuration.

Led a team of 4 other developers in the creation of a system for Reserving seats for a given show when purchasing tickets on-line with Fandango, on-line through Century Theatres, or at the box office. The project was slated to take three months for completion. It was delivered in ten weeks. Worked with Century Theatres and Fandango IT staff on system integration, and interfaced directly with executives regarding business needs of the system.
  • On-line Ticket Sales: Lead Developer, Database Adminstration Led team of 3 other developers in the completion of an on-line ticket sales system capable of supporting the sales for Century Theatres' 595 screens. Unfortunately, I had to pick this ball up mid court, already 6 months over due when I was brought on. Worked with Century Theatres IT staff and interfaced with executives to re-define scope of project. After functional completion, this system was used by Century Theatres to get Fandango to drastically reduce their prices for selling tickets on-line and the project was dropped.
