Help Horses Help Kids & Adults With Disabilites!! NCEFT is looking for volunteers (16ys +) who are interested in volunteering as regular sidewalkers with our theraputic Riding programs or as regular subs.
Current Volunteer Sidewalking/heading NEEDS:
Monday 5-6pm
Wed 11am-12pm
Thursday 11am -12pm
NCEFT is a nationally accredited non-profit organization that offers several unique therapeutic programs for individuals with disabilities. First is hippotherapy, which is physical, occupational, or speech therapy treatment strategy that utilizes equine movement. Second is Therapeutic Riding which is a recreational program for individuals with disabilities to learn how to ride. Third is Therapeutic Vaulting which is essentially gymnastics on horseback for individuals with disabilities.
These programs rely on people like yourself who choose to volunteer their time, the organization could not exist with out the support of our volunteers/donors. The primary role our volunteers take is as a side-walker, this job includes walking along side the horse to provide safety for the patient/student and assistance to the treating therapist or therapeutic riding instructor during sessions. However there are many ways to become involved with NCEFT, for example in the stables, the gardens, etc. We welcome and appreciate the unique gifts each community volunteer member has to offer. We don't have any specific time requirements, however we do ask that a volunteer would be able to schedule a specific time and day that they would be able to volunteer. Our current volunteers give anywhere from 30 min to 4 hrs per week of their time.
If you are interested in side walking, you will need to attend a one time mandatory volunteer training.
