If your school communty service group or club is looking for group opportunities, than please consider participating in the guerilla marketing project at Uhuru Furniture.
You can support black community programs through the African People's Education and Defense Fund (APEDF) when you spend a day helping us to get the word out about Uhuru Furniture, a volunteer-supported fundraiser thrift shop for APEDF.
What It Looks Like:
Your group of 4-20 can meet on a weekend day with coordinators from Uhuru. Each person grabs a bag of doorhangers and a bottled water and then we fan out through a selected neighborhood and hang color doorhanger ads on every door. Partcipiate in one of the most effective marketing projects we have to get great donations of high end furniture. It's great exercise, great to be outdoors working together, and best of all it brings a valuable amount of resources to an organization which really means something to Oakland's African community.
Probably your club wants to experience all different types of work and support the non-profit community.
APEDF is one of a kind. Whether you sign up for one volunteer day or choose to get more involved, your participation will really make a difference.
Our Mission: APEDF strives to develop and institutionalize programs to defend the human and civil rights of the African community and to address the grave disparities in education, health, health care and economic development.
