BASECAMP is a modern folk group currently preparing to record its first album in March/April. We plan to begin performing in late April, and book shows through September. We have been compared to Bob Dylan, Gillian Welch, Cowboy Junkies, the Pogues (at times), Yo La Tengo and Elliot Smith.
The group is an acoustic guitar/singer, organ/piano, electric guitar and bass. We also have a violin player who will sit in on occasion. All of the musicians are artists and writers, and we all live in or near San Francisco. The group is very serious about promotion, success, and playing live as much as possible.
BASECAMP is trying to do something different: bring a completely stripped away sound to San Francisco. The perfect drummer for this situation would play a stripped down kit (perhaps just snare, kick, hihat) and be completely devoted to contributing subtle beats and rythyms that will drive the songs without ruining the rustic feel.
Take a listen to the draft versions of some songs. These are barebones recordings of the songs with me on guitar. Drums need to be added to many songs to define the rythym. Contact me if you are interested.
Thank you for taking the time to read this posting.
Sincerely,
Christopher Ward
