Extranomical Adventures is a growing San Francisco-based sightseeing tour company, specializing in small van tours to Muir Woods, Wine Country, Yosemite National Park and the Northern California area.

The founder’s story:
I was tired of working 12-14 hour days and realized that quality of life also has to be put into the job equation. I am a hard worker but sitting in a windowless cubicle was not what humans were intended to do and staring at a computer screen for hours was a waste of life. So I traveled extensively and when I came back I couldn't go back to the rat race or the office. I thought of what could keep me outdoors while being able to pay the bills. With that in mind, about four years ago I bought a van and started a small tour company focusing on independent travelers, and we’ve been growing ever since. In addition to the tour offerings listed above we are working on some new, unique tours (UPDATE: Here is one of the tours that we are considering launching. Who we are looking for:
We are currently looking to hire friendly, motivated, knowledgeable tour leaders for part-time and full-time positions. Tour Leaders will drive a 15-passenger van while providing informative friendly commentary.
Candidate Qualifications:
- A Commercial Driver’s License (Class: B with passenger endorsement). Training is available to highly motivated candidates, but please be aware that it takes four to six weeks to get an appointment for a practical commercial test from the DMV.
- Clean driving record (no moving violations or accidents on your record).
- Must be comfortable talking in front of people and leading a group.
- Must be able to change a tire (15 passenger van tires are heavy).
- Must be drug tested (state law requirement)
- Tour guide experience, travel, tourism, hospitality or recreational studies and/or a foreign language are positively viewed.
- Must be VERY reliable, timely, enthusiastic, personable, social, a team player, enjoy talking, friendly, flexible with hours and, did I mention, reliable!
- Must be at least 25 years old (for insurance purposes) and able to work in the United States legally.
- Must be willing and able to work long hours and weekends!!!
Hours and Remuneration
- Monthly roster with 1-5 tours per week depending on tour frequency. Summer is busy so drivers can expect to have 1-5 trips per week depending on season and demand.
- Shift hours vary depending on the trip (Yosemite hours 5.30am – 9pm, approximately, Muir Woods & Wine Country tour 8.30am – 6.30pm)
- Remuneration is on a per trip basis: Yosemite $150, and Muir Woods & Wine Country $100 plus Tips ($0 - $120, average $40 per trip)
- Drivers receive a meal reimbursement up to $15 per Yosemite trip
- Medical benefits available to full time drivers with partial employee contribution.
