Category Farm & Horses : Training
Created 03/15/06
Description BRIDGE FOR AFRICA is holding our FIRST ever Volunteer Training & Info Session THIS tuesday in Downtown Mountain View...

The training/info session is THIS tuesday night at the Mountain View Public Library, in the Community meeting room at 6:30pm. The library is located at 585 Franklin Street, Mountain View. We would LOVE for you to please RSVP to volunteer@bridgeforafrica.org before Tuesday -- but if you read this on tuesday and would like to come -- fantastic! Bring friends/family/colleagues or anyone else you think may be interested -- this is a great activity to get involved in with someone you know!

We are a small non-profit organization partnering with African artisan groups to promote self-sufficiency and the dignity of work. We currently work with 13 groups locating in Namibia, South Africa, Kenya, Malawi, Ghana, and Zimbabwe, and currently looking to expand to Zambia and Sudan. We work closely with the artisan groups to develop, create, and market their high quality handmade collectible African art pieces in the U.S. All proceeds go back to the artisans themselves and are also reinvested in the artisan communities.

We are looking for volunteers to help with ALL KINDS OF THINGS! This includes: administrative tasks -- mailings, contacting museums, tagging product, inventory counts, as well as program development: Bridge parties, fair trade gift baskets, etc. Primarily, however, we need volunteers to staff our events in the bay area -- these are all over the bay area -- south bay, east bay, north bay and san francisco... at events like art & wine festivals, jazz festivals, etc..... We need volunteers who are willing to spend the time learning about our communities in Africa to be energetic representatives for them here in the U.S.
