We are a startup (funded) in need of three programmers/software engineers who can do some work on an amazing inventon that uses a new approach to computer technology.
We believe that this new computer technology will hava a significant impact on changing the world; and it will displace existing computer technology. It will help enable people in poor nations to move foward and get better lives; yet also significantly impact the profitability of huge companies. It will change the life of the common person. It will change your life.
We are looking for three different skill sets:
1) We need one guru who has a background making applications and knows windows, and either unix or linux or something in that family. It would be nice if you know multi-threading, and have experience with client/server applications.
2) We need a guru who is into low level stuff... processor design, kernel development, any sort of exotic low level stuff; virtual machines, anything low in the stack.
3) We need a guru who has done work similar to #2 above, but also has written patent applications and enjoys writing patents.
We would also consider an intern to help support the people listed above, so if you are up for an internship please let us know.
Our startup is rejecting some of the basic fundamental assumptions made in computer science... so we are re-inventing parts of computer science. It is amazing how many venture capital companies and big name computer engineers and scientists have told us that our technology was impossible. Everyone said we were nuts.
But now we have a workng pre-alpha prototype of a computer that does things that appear to be totally impossible. Everything the venture capitalists and big name engineers said was "impossible" we now have working. Now that we have a working prototype, we immediatly raised our first venture capital, and the real fun is about to start.
Parts of this project consist of doing things that are relativly boring, and parts are totally mind blowing and world changing. You need the patience and skills to be able to work on both.
You must be able to discard some of your current beliefs about what is possible and what is impossible... this is much easier said than done. Even when we teach engineers how it works, they think they understand it the first day, but they don't seem to really understand it for a couple of months.
We have a location in Saucilito, and are just opening an office on the Penninsula. (We are looking for office space between Palo Alto and San Mateo, but depending on the location of our next hires, we could open our second office as far North as San Francisco, and as far South as Santa Clara.)

Although this project is a relativly short gig (1 - 4 months), if you have the right skill set we could also consider you for other parts of the work.
