What is it with this Latter Day Saints guy, Warren Jeffs, having dozens upon dozens of wives. Now he has stirred up the Religious Right, who have set the dogs and cops after him. Keep in mind that he has robbed no liquor stores, bilked no banks, killed no innocents nor lied to anyone to secure votes, which instantly gives him a leg up on Congress.
His most obvious offense is that he may have as many as 70 wives--which could be considered either masochistic or a little slice of hell itself--which is a crime in 49 states AND Utah. As a result, he has scores of children, which all appear to be healthy, except for their twisted little minds, from listening to hundreds of hours of his loony tapes. If there is a crime here, it is forcing malleable minds to listen to this garbage, which is more a responsibility of the mothers. If he isn’t defrauding the welfare system, I say let him deal with 70 women PMSing every month.
Of course you can’t have polygamy unless you have more than one wife, agreeing to marry a man, who already has a wife. So why aren’t the authorities arresting these women as accomplices? Do I detect sexism here?
Quite frankly, if it weren’t for the innocent children being produced by this quagmire, I wouldn’t give a damn how many wives this Jim Jones wannabe has. I bet Christmas, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are just a hoot in these households.
Better we should concentrate our Law Enforcement resources on violent criminals and Terrorists than go down the slippery slope to another Waco. Clearly this Prophet impersonator is just a little man, with a big God complex. Better we attempt to rescue the children and deprogram the wives than send them all to hell in a fireball.
The FBI would be well advised to revisit the investigation against Richard Jewell of the Olympic Park Bombing, Ruby Ridge and Waco before they launch an assault on the YFZ compound in Texas. If you need a second opinion, you might try contacting Janet Reno, and Dick Thornburg and ask how their ‘do or die’ investigations and assaults worked out.
