Program Background
Community Bridges Beacon is a community center located in Everett Middle School in the Mission District of San Francisco, dedicated to providing resources and programs for the healthy development of youth and their families in a safe and supportive environment. Community Bridges Beacon is the lead agency for the Mission Teen Pregnancy Prevention Collaborative, a group of community stakeholders including schools, health clinics, and community-based agencies, working to support Mission district youth in learning to make healthy and positive choices in their lives.

Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Mission Teen Pregnancy Prevention Collaborative Director, the Talking Circles Facilitator is responsible for implementing a ten-to-fourteen week comprehensive sexuality education curriculum support group-style in Mission District high schools. This position requires energy, enthusiasm, a comfort level talking about sex and a desire to teach youth about health and human sexuality.

Responsibilities
• Facilitate eight weekly Talking Circles pregnancy prevention groups at Mission District high school sites using Talking Circles curriculum
• Support the coordination of groups, including maintaining relationships with school sites and community partners
• Collection of state and local data for group registration, collection of weekly attendance records, and implementation of program evaluations
• Coordinate Talking Circles activities and guest speakers, including visits from health clinic outreach workers and possible field trips for groups

Minimum Qualifications
• Knowledge of and experience working on the multiple issues surrounding youth sexuality, teen pregnancy, and pregnancy prevention strategies
• 2+ years experience in group facilitation and direct service with youth in health education, counseling, social service or similar field
• Proven ability to work with urban youth ages 11-18 in a youth development setting
• Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to build community relationships and work with multiple stakeholders, i.e. schools, health clinics
• Familiarity with San Francisco’s Mission District community
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
• Ability to take initiative, be proactive and be flexible
• Knowledge of and strong commitment to youth development principles
• Ability to set goals, think critically, pay meticulous attention to detail, and meet deadlines
• Proven ability to work with people from diverse ethnic, socioeconomic, educational, religious, sexual orientations, and generational backgrounds
• Bachelor’s Degree in social services, health education or related field preferred or commensurate work experience.
• Proof of a negative TB test and fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice


Compensation and Schedule:
M-F, 20-25 hours per week
$20.00/hour DOE
