Description WIT Gulf Region Program Background
Women in Technology (WIT) Gulf Region, funded by the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) of the United States Department of State, is managed by the Institute of International Education (IIE) West Coast Center and implemented in collaboration with partners in the Gulf Region (specifically in Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Yemen). The program delivers five core activities to participants and partner organizations: 1) Soft Skills Training 2) Cost-Recovery Model/Business Training 3) IT Training 4) IT Clubs 5) Professional Exchange and Capacity Building.


Purpose of Position:
To support the technical aspects of the WIT Gulf Region program including website development and updates, database management, and email accounts and listservs setup and maintenance. To support Senior Program Officers, Senior Program Coordinator, in-country Managers, Technical Directors and partners. To disperse and track grant payments.

Principal Responsibilities:
1. Manage, update and maintain WIT Gulf Region website, including working with local partners on individual country sites (working with web design team and Senior Program Coordinator).
2. Ensure WIT Gulf Region program is represented on IIE main website, IIE West Coast site and appropriate partner and resource sites
3. Update participant profiles, program news, calendars, resources on WIT Gulf Region and individual country websites (English)
4. Work with Regional Specialist, translators and partners to update Arabic side of website in conjunction with English update
5. Disperse and track payments to partners, vendors and grantees
6. Ensure program compliance with US Patriot Act by checking grantees and vendors through government database

Qualifications: Education/Experience/Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Excellent computer skills including proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite especially MS Access
• Experience with website design and using Macromedia Dreamweaver and HTML to update websites
• Experience in Middle East and knowledge of Arabic a plus
• Experience living outside of the United States and proficiency in a foreign language preferred
• Interest in international development, women’s rights, the Middle East
