Major Responsibilities:
- The Performance Team Lead is responsible for driving the definition and implementation of a repeatable performance engineering and testing strategy for GID’s (Gap Inc. Direct) highly scalable, multi-brand eCommerce platform.
- This is a hands-on position.
- Develop practices and tools to facilitate performance, scalability, and stress testing of GID business tools and eCommerce applications.
- Define performance acceptance criteria for applications.
- Drive the creation of automated performance testing.
- Drive the definition and implementation of metrics to provide meaningful performance measurements and improvements.
- Create and execute performance scripts.
- Lead analysis of performance test results and recommend improvements.
- Provide technical thought-leadership for the performance team.
- Guide and mentor performance engineers.
- Define performance design best practices.
- Guide application teams in designing for performance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience in automated performance, scalability, and stress testing of highly scalable eCommerce systems using industry performance tools, e.g. Mercury Loadrunner.
- 3+ years experience in capacity planning for large scale systems.
- Experience working with distributed Unix systems.
- Background in Java software engineering.
- Experience working with J2EE Application Servers.
- Experience working with messaging systems, e.g., MQ.
- Experience working with clustered DB systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience mentoring and guiding performance engineers.
- Ability to determine estimates of effort and impacts for a variety of solutions.
- Ability to influence technical discussions and decisions.
- Experience working with Linux systems.
- Experience with service-oriented architectures.
- Experience with online retailing systems.
