TITLE: Systems/Network Administrator (Part-time/Contract)
REPORTS TO: Sr. IT Manager
Southwall Technologies develops, manufactures, and sells thin film coatings on flexible substrates for the automotive glass, electronic display, window film, and architectural glass markets. It provides transparent solar-control films for automotive glass; transparent IR and EMI blocking films for plasma display filters, reflective films for liquid crystal displays; and energy control films for architectural glass.
The IT Systems/Network Administrator will be responsible for the day to day support and operation of the companys servers and desktop/laptop infrastructure. This includes monitoring logs and performance, updating and patching software, and related duties. This person installs, configures, and maintains companies' desktop, laptop and server hardware, software, and applications for all departments including engineering, finance, HR, sales and marketing. This position is responsible for:
Installation, configuration, maintenance and support for hardware, operating systems and applications on Dell/IBM laptops and desktops and Dell Poweredge servers and HP Proliant servers running the Windows operating system
User administration (Active Directory 2003 management)
Help-desk tickets and all end-user computer concerns
Maintenance of all user laptop, desktop and related computer equipment
Backoffice File/Print/Email/Active Directory and related server administration and patch/hotfixing
Systems backup and recovery using Veritas software
Phone and network system administration (adds/moves/changes)
Engineering production and test machine computer maintenance (DOS/Windows NT/Windows 2000 machines running FIX32 and other related software and hardware)
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
3+ years experience in a primary support role managing a medium Windows-based server network (10+ servers) consisting of all versions of the Windows operating system
Windows 2000/2003/XP experience (installation, sysprep, ghost imaging, etc.)
VMWare Workstation 5.5 experience
Strong skills in configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting server-class hardware (preferably HP/Compaq and Dell)
Experience troubleshooting and resolving network related issues, including a strong fundamental knowledge of networking concepts (3Com/Cisco hardware preferred)
Phone system (cell phones and VoIP PBX) related maintenance experience (service plans, add/moves/changes, trouble ticket opening, etc.)
Working knowledge of GE Fanuc FIX32 or related manufacturing/engineering machine experience
Experience identifying issues and determining root cause via a consistent, logical approach
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assigned tasks
Proven track record providing excellent customer service
Strong communications skills and can-do attitude
Ability and willingness to be on-call 24x7
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
BA/BS in computer related major preferred
MCSE/MCSA/CCNA or ITIL certifications a plus
Minimum 5 years industry experience with growing levels of responsibility
