2002 to Present 2006
Buddha Dogg Rescue, East Bay, CA
^^^
After years of working independently in dog and animal rescue I decided to create Buddha Dogg Rescue. As I learned the in’z n out’z of dog rescue primarily, I came to understand there are certain rules to working with many non-profits and city and county law regarding dog rescue. I was extremely motivated to help and save as many dogs as possible in an ‘animal care’ system that still needs much improvement. I have worked with Hopalong rescue, Smiley Dog, Home At Last, Bad Rap, GS Rescues and the Nor Cal Poodle rescue. My mission and main focus has always been to help each and every dog/animal that crossed my path and this often meant creating partnered rescues with other ‘sister’ organizations. Working with a variety of dogs laid the foundation for my k-9 training skill set. I soon added the service of basic training and ‘puppy’ or rescue dog ‘boot camp’ as a free or low cost training service to help new dog parents transition well with newly adopted rescue dogs.
I’ve found that training and education for pet/dog owners is critical to a successful life with their animal companions and can contribute to decreasing surrendered animals to local shelters. I have also worked with Hopalong and the OAS in temperament testing and evaluation dogs in an effort to place as many dogs as possible on the ‘adoptable list’ or get them off of the canine death row. I have taken a few hard luck cases home for a 6 wk training camp to make them adoptable-this was a coordinated effort with Hopalong via the Oakland Animal shelter. My love and concern for the well being and fair treatment for dogs specifically and all animals is my constant motivation to advocate for their rights and their survival. I continue to build my Dog Training skills via Seminars and Workshops like Open Paw and other animal organizations.
