We are currently looking for a Network Engineer who will be responsible for the design and implementation for all of Gaia Online's network infrastructure. This position demands a very high level of knowledge in
Apache, MySQL, networking, Linux/BSD based operating systems, shell scripting, as well as x86 hardware. Past experience must include experience in working with Apache and MySQL in a datacenter environment.
Key Responsibilities includes:
Verifying and maintaining network integrity for a network of over 300
Servers Installing, upgrading operating systems and services
Performance tuning of software, hardware
Supporting and configuring a Network Appliances SAN
Building various storage solutions
Forecasting future growth and hardware demand
Emergency after hour support
Key requirements are:
5+ years experience in high level IT position. Experience in major Linux
services such as DNS, Email, Web, and MySQL based servers. Ability to work
autonomously with independent research to create solutions for tackling
various scalability issues and to create tools through scripting languages
for automating repetitive tasks.
Plusses:
Working knowledge of OpenBSD
Perl or bash scripting
High availability MySQL experience
Layer 2/3 networking
