Legendary KPFA-FM was established in 1949 as the first listener supported
radio station in the U.S. Located in Berkeley, California, it is the
flagship station of the Pacifica Network, which is a mission-driven
organization dedicated to free speech, peace, and social justice, and
cross-cultural understanding. Broadcasting at 59,000 watts, KPFA serves
much of Northern and Central California with an eclectic and diverse range
of cultural, music, news and public affairs programming. KPFA is seeking
a Subscriptions Assistant to aid in the service of its vast pool of
listener sponsors.
Responsibilites:
The Subscriptions department is responsible for planning and implementing
our quarterly fund drives. Each fund drive triggers a three-month cycle,
which includes ordering and shipping the premiums offered during each.
These events also stimulate a swath of correspondence from donors, which
must be addressed in a timely manner. Duties regarding the planning stage
of each fund drive include volunteer outreach and soliciting food
donations. During each fund drive, the Subscriptions Assistant will act
as an Off-Air Coordinator, which includes setting up premiums to be
offered on the air, as well as greeting and training volunteers. After
each fund drive, the Subscriptions Assistant will aid in the maintenance
of premiums, including shipping, CD duplication, and inventory control.
Requirements:
Minimum 1 year experience in office environment required. Shipping
experience preferred. Working knowledge of windows software, database
experience preferred. Non-profit experience a plus. Ability to
prioritize a diverse workload essential. Bachelor’s Degree Preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communications skills are vital. Commitment to
Pacifica’s Mission and to work in a multi-cultural environment required.
Salary:
This is a part-time Communications Workers of America (CWA) union
position, 15 to 18 hours a week, mostly flexible schedule with some fixed
hours.
