Sales, Pre-sales, Strategy
o E-business digital strategy engagements leading to technology services contracts delivering web services with business model alignment. Developed and facilitated digital strategy workstreams to lead small and large groups of start-ups and Fortune 500 companies to rethink their business models, branding, technology, and fulfillment. Performed pre-sales activities for digital strategy team.
o Pre-sales business consultant for SSA, ERP company (BPCS) specializing in solutions for manufacturing, supply chain, warehouse management, logistics, and planning/forecasting systems. Developed and presented strategic supply chain strategy solutions for over 30 clients.
o North American Team Leader for CPG/Food & Beverage verticals, which included FDA and ISO requirements. Developed and presented solutions for trade funds / promotions management, order management, process manufacturing, warehouse management, and planning systems (Forecasting/MPS/MRP/DRP/VMI).
o North American Team Leader for Advanced Planning Systems (real-time cost-benefit sales & operational planning/forecasting) and managed key solution relationships with Manugistics and SynQuest. Developed and presented solutions for network analysis, demand management, supply planning, capacity balancing, and transportation management.
o Facilitated and surveyed over 30 manufacturing, retail, and distribution clients' to learn their core competencies, business issues, corporate goals, decision process, and key performance indicators, building relationships with key decision-makers through the ability to learn their issues and provide relevant solutions including sales forecasting, production planning, and advanced planning.
o Business broker selling hospitality businesses including hotels, inns, and restaurants.
Leadership, Account Management and Relationship Management
o Over 20 years management including turning around a struggling business unit. Reported to the president. Grew sales from $2M to $5M in three years. Grew the team from 4 to 16. Negotiated major equipment and supply contracts. Managed inventory across 7 DCs and 150 customer locations. Developed strategic plans and then successfully executed with total P&L responsibility. Oversaw account management, sales, supply chain, field service, customer support, and order fulfillment. Implemented new methods within existing technology to manage the new business unit. Developed a sales & operational data warehouse that analyzed business unit KPIs (key performance indicators) and customer level P&Ls.
o Over 10 years account management, sales management, and sales support experience. Key accounts included CVS, Hannaford, Giant Eagle, Kmart, Pathmark, Rite-Aid, Shaw's, Wal-Mart, Canandaigua, Colfax, Cott, Sobe, Met-Rx, Vitasoy, Boston Biomedical, and hospitality accounts including restaurants and lodging facilities. Responsible for contract negotiations, equipment purchases and sales, inventory management for multiple DCs including VMI, sales & operational planning, and supply chain management.
o Developed relationships internally with cross-functional departments including sales, marketing, customer service, production, distribution, finance, and the executive team. Developed relationships with strategic partners: Manugistics, SynQuest, Cognos, Taylor, Ironside Technologies, Trilogy, ISM, TradePaq, Fuji, Konica, Kodak, Noritsu, Concero, Vignette, Akamai, and MetraTech.
Supply Chain Management
o Developed supply chain strategy for a leading international $1B medical device / biotechnology company including business & technology architecture (Baan). Key contributor on WMS selection (Red Prairie). Developed North American logistics strategy. Managed key relationships with freight (DHL, FedEx) and freight forwarders (Expeditors, Kamino, Kintetsu).
o Managed a world wide supply chain with $16M inventory, $45M spend, 4 departments, and staff of 30 people.
o Developed continuous process improvement program delivering $2M in new annual savings. Revamped supplier strategy and procurement practices moving to JIT deliveries and yielding $1M direct material annual savings.
o Analyzed, designed, and implemented an industry leading merchandising procurement system for Hannaford providing direct product profitability through the entire supply chain and an enterprise wide trade funds management solution. This project changed the company's inventory management paradigm while yielding cost savings greater than $5M per year.
o Performed product category management for a $2B grocery retailer growing the category to be the most profitable and increasing sales by over 100%.
o Provided product category management services while working for a international photofinisher to over 20 major drug, grocery, and mass-merchant retailers including contract negotiations, purchasing, sales forecasting, ROI and inventory analysis, retail department planning, shelf allocation, developing marketing plans, coordinating merchandising efforts, and supply chain planning/execution.
o APICS (American Production & Inventory Control Society) Certified in Production & Inventory Management and instructor for APICS certification.
o Led statewide development of production and inventory management curriculum for a University's Continuing Education for Business and Industry Division, which led to APICS certification.
