Gee, scared yuppies ruining another scene? Yeah - that's really new. Like they haven't ruined this entire city (and others) already - not exactly news. Love that. No such thing as time and place for these people. EVERYwhere has to be sanitized, Gap casual, and stroller friendly. EVERY place.
They want EVERYWHERE to be like that. These are people who, while they pride themselves on living in San Francisco that's (actually - was) so wild, and "Crazy-Crazy!!", in their hearts don't have liking for it, the character to enjoy it, and have been essentially converting it into Walnut Creek instead of leaving it for others to enjoy. While they're bored with their lifestyle - it's all they can handle. They haven't realized that you have to have some character and an open mind and some brains to bust out of your boredom - broaden your horizons. This isn't about the Castro - it's about everywhere and any where.
They HAVE to go to places that aren't for them and ruin it for everyone else with their fear. Tolence - for the intolerant and/or disrespectful? Don't think so. And not really about tolerance - don't overstate it. It's about more people trying to ruin one more scene/lifestyle. Can't show a respect for a scene that's not for them and stay out? No. Must go there for whatever reason, to be "hip" or "cool" or "adventurous", and then walk through in fear clutching each other - like they do everywhere that isn't a sterile yuppie palace.
Make no fucking mistake - this isn't about gay/straight. It's about disregard for time and place. There have always been a few straight people running around the Castro. But they knew where they were, as they would anywhere - the Haight, the Opera, a metal concert, a nice restaurant, or a fucking hole in the wall - and what the place was about, and blended and/or CONTRIBUTED so as to ENJOY instead of ruin it. Time and place - which these people have neither the respect to execute nor brains to comprehend. Tolerance for people who show no respect for a relative scene and/or lifestyle? Do you have tolerance for bulldozers plowing up the Amazon? Yeah, jungle - who needs that shit? Drop your fucking bullshit pseudo-intellectual theories and LOOK and SEE.
There is NOTHING wrong with a place or scene being too much or not to your liking. I can't STAND the Castro - I think they're now just a bunch of double-income yuppie dipshits or a bunch of stupid, shallow cutsey fags. They've lost their character on their own and are about as trite as anyone now. But know what? THAT'S WHY I DON'T GO THERE. It, like San Francisco was, isn't for everyone. It doesn't HAVE to be. I don't go there and try to ruin it for people who like that shit. That's what SF is about - THAT is tolerance. Letting something DIFFERENT happen that people are enjoying and not trying to fucking ruin it because it doesn't agree with you. And not trying to turn it into the rest of the world. GET IT? That way - there are different things going on in different places and the entire world is not one GREAT BIG HOMOGENETIC DRAB FUCKING reflection of itself.
San Francisco is FULL of fucking idiots would think it cool to move to Alaska for the outdoors, in actuality HATE the outdoors and elements, move there anyway, HATE snow, wildlife and the beauty, and instead of leaving it and it's beauty for others (already there and yet to come) to enjoy - pave the fucking place over putting up huge condo complexes, shopping malls, parking lots, and Starbucks to resemble where they came from - dessimating the beauty. And STILL have the nerve/idiocy afterwards to think themselves "outdoors" people.
Fuck off. Go move to Texas where you can complain about cowboys, ruin their culture/lifestyle, turn it into another uber-suburbia, and then wear the fucking cowboy hat...
