Description The California Family Health Council, Inc. (CFHC), a non-profit public benefit corporation which promotes the improved health of California families, is seeking a qualified Statistician to work in our Berkeley office. The Statistician will assist with all aspects of data analysis using SAS for special health studies and elect appropriate statistical techniques to test hypotheses or answer questions raised by the study. They will provide statistical support and expertise in the analysis of primary and secondary data including the exploration of data and construction and validation of various statistical models and techniques (ANOVA, correlation, logistic regression, time-series, etc.) that can be used to assess relationships among reproductive health related variables. The statistician will also play a key role in the implementation of a centralized data collection system capturing individual client-level data from 266 Title X funded clinics throughout California. Other duties include creating documentation for databases, files, and specific programs; constructing graphs and tables for presentations; retrieving information and preparing internal reports. Duties of this position also include grant writing and working with CFHC staff and program grantees on evaluation activities. The ideal candidate will have a Masters degree in public health, statistics or epidemiology; advanced knowledge of statistics (bivariate and multivariate analyses, data analysis for longitudinal study design); knowledge of epidemiology and medical research; knowledge and interest in research in family planning, mens and womens reproductive health care, and prevention and treatment of STIs and HIV/AIDS; ability to modify software (requires programming skills) to meet analytic requirements of specific projects; experience with SAS required; strong writing and communication skills a must; experience with visual basic programming and EPI INFO a plus.
