POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Fiscal Department Manager, the primary responsibilities of the Staff Accountant includes assisting the Fiscal Department Manager with a large variety of contracts and grants and other accounting duties but not limited to the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Prepare grant specific budgets and budget modifications as needed by program managers.
· Prepare quarterly fiscal reports for senior management.
· Research fiscal issues as requested by senior managers.
· Assist with agency budget preparation and revisions.
· Coordinate agency and funder audits.
· Prepare and process Agency cost allocations.
· Maintain balance sheet schedules.
· Responsible for input of all journal entries.
· Review monthly fiscal reporting; submit electronic reports to State and City Government Funders.
· Reviews and adjusts receivable ledger as required.
· Review semi-monthly Payroll Register for inaccuracies.
· Maintain and reconcile a monthly petty cash fund.
· Assist and act as back up for accounts payable, accounts receivable functions.
· Coordinate and perform annually a physical inventory of agency fixed asset.
· Prepare monthly accounting reports as assigned.
· Other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree in related discipline (finance, accounting)
· AA degree in related discipline (finance, accounting) + 2 years experience
· Any similar combination of education and experience.
· Prior not for profit experience preferred.
· Knowledge of computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets and database.
· Ability to work constructively with a diverse staff.
· Strong analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills and abilities.
· Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and communication skills (both verbal and written), with a customer service focus.
· Ability to continually pay attention to detail, establishes priorities, and meet deadlines.
· Familiarity with financial concepts; solid understanding of basic accounting.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers and employees.
Salary: Staff Track, Level 6, step 1: $18.35 hourly
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Classification: Non-Exempt / Union Member
