effectively manage the growing business. While Yahoo! currently captures huge volumes of
customer activity and product usage data, Front Page analyst's still use manual processes to
extract, store, aggregate and report on the data.
The main purpose of the Business Intelligence Capability is to augment and automate reporting
through the construction of a Front Page Data Mart (hereafter "FSDM"). The capability also
includes development of MicroStrategy reports and dashboards built to work with the FSDM
My responsibilities included
* Development, maintenance and support of the FrontPage data mart
* Develop MicroStrategy reports on this warehouse
* Design and maintain data models of this data mart
Sun Microsystems Inc. - Nov '00 May '04 - Role: Data warehousing Engineer
SunAWare: Sun Advantage Warehouse was a 6+ years old data warehouse in Oracle [total
age of the warehouse is 13+ years, as its initial collection was in Sybase]. Sun Microsystems
Inc.'s financial data is its meta-data, serving the finance and the marketing department, among
many others. Source is Oracle ERP. The warehouse had 4 facts (Billings, Bookings, Backlog and
Shipments) and more than 60 dimensions. The warehouse was loaded/refreshed thrice a day,
snapped twice to 3 geographical locations (including US), worldwide.
My responsibilities included,
* Development, maintenance and support
* Development and maintenance of data models of this warehouse
* Performance tuning (query, process tuning) and Coding
* Improve the security granularity in SunAWare, using management company code
* Project Sun's product costs on a quarterly basis, project : Future Cost

products available from the company. GO-Shop was the shopping page of this Internet portal.
Reporting was an integral part of this project and they were generated using Business Objects'
Web Intelligence, which were accessible to users thorough the web.

Client: Citibank NA, India, May '98 - Aug '99 Role: Data warehousing Engineer
The project involved the creation of cubes (data marts) on the existing CITIBANK products such
as credit cards, financial accounts, billing databases, home and auto loans. The database were
populated thro' Oracle 7.x / Pro*C based applications. The data model and the data mart (which
had 2 years of metadata) was created using Citibank Data warehouse 1.x tool.
My responsibilities included
* Development of Accruals and Applications for CITIBANK
* MIS report generation was a very important part of the process
* Analyzed, designed, and deployed the data marts (cubes), meeting user requirements
* Creation of the dimensions and measures, Business Objects Universe
* Estimating storage parameters of tables, indices, creation & dropping of objects
* User management, Storage management, Performance and SQL tuning
* I was part of the design of database structures, scheduling the application runs
