Editorial Assistant Position available
SOMA Magazine, an acclaimed international culture, fashion, and arts magazine is seeking two editorial interns for the next three months. The internship is unpaid, but will provide you with a lot of experience in magazine journalism and published clips. Interns will have hands-on experience with the production of a provocative lifestyle magazine from beginning to end. We focus on several areas of urban and street culture: up and coming fashion designers, both new and iconic musicians, film, literature, and art. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, and eager to pursue a career in magazine journalism.
Requirements:
Journalism, English, or Communications major.
GPA of 3.0 or higher
Junior or Senior standing
Available to commute to the office (located in downtown San Francisco) at least 2 days a week, 15-20 hours/wk.
Close attention to detail, good command of the English language, and excellent research skills a must.
Duties include:
Fact checking
Organizing story pitches, articles
Communicate between in-house staff and contributing writers and editors
Pitching story ideas and some writing
Administrative work--filing, typing, organizing
