SOFTWARE ENGINEERING DIRECTOR

Summary:
Innovative Interfaces is seeking a qualified individual to join its Product Development management team, reporting to the V.P. of Product Development. As a member of this highly technical and collaborative group, you will provide planning and leadership for developing state of the art software for libraries throughout the world. The successful candidate will have strong background in the development and implementation of complex software systems and experience leading teams of software development engineers.
We are seeking someone with a passion for UNIX, C, and Java, a background in Oracle and other database solutions, and experience with large server based development efforts.
Scope of Work/Responsibilities:
- Product Development Management Team
Work closely with other development managers to assure smooth functioning of our efforts, including processes and procedures, technical initiatives, R & D projects, and effective collaboration throughout the company.
- Manage five to ten software engineers, including:
o recruiting
o goal setting
o appraisals
o assignment and supervision of tasks
o training and mentoring
- Lead one or more development teams of engineers, writers, testers, and analysts. Responsible for:
o Project Timelines and Planning
o Functional Design
o Architectural Design
o Technical Feasibility
o Viability in Production Environments
o Timely completion of project
Requirements:
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent
- 5-10 years experience in software development teams
- 3-5 years software development management experience
- Demonstrable skills in defining and implementing software development methodologies including testing, integration, release and deployment
- Strong problem-solving, coding and design abilities
- Strong UNIX server computing platform skills
- Good knowledge of networking
- Knowledge of C and Java
- Knowledge of relational database concepts
- Ability to thrive in a very collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Desired:
- Experience developing applications specifically for Oracle 8i/9i
- Experience developing commercially deployed web applications
