Located in Palo Alto, California, meebo is a web-based instant messaging client that allows users to access their buddies from any computer with a web browser and an internet connection. It is web-native and requires no download – the goal is to deliver a rich, application-like experience in the web. meebo works with the AOL, Yahoo, MSN, Google Talk, Jabber and ICQ networks.
Meebo has taken web development to a new level by creating a Windows-like web framework with JavaScript. We’re seeking a versatile C/C++ programmer with experience in AJAX, JavaScript, and DHTML. Expertise with web technologies is a plus but we are most impressed by highly-motivated individuals with solid CS backgrounds who have the desire and initiative to pick up new skills. Responsibilities include:
* Work towards weekly and bi-weekly deadlines on the development of high-visibility, high-quality web products
* Work with product team to assess feasibility and priority of new features
* Develop debugging tools as necessary
* Assist in testing regularly scheduled releases
* Proactively recommend architecture changes and suggest new coding practices
* Collaborate with server-side programmers to optimize scalability and network efficiency
* Investigate new web technologies and present findings to development team
The ideal candidate will have:
* BS or MS in Computer Science
* 3-5+ years of C/C++ commercial software development experience
* Previous experience with DHTML, JavaScript, CSS, and AJAX
* Phenomenal debugging principles (and perseverance)
* Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration skills
* Proven ability to pick up new skills
* An eye for pixels, details, and consistency
* An overwhelming desire to provide the best user experience possible
