General Functions:
The Shih Yu-Lang Central YMCA Youth Department provides comprehensive leadership, educational, community improvement, health and fitness, arts and crafts, and recreational programs for youth 12-18 years old in the Tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco.
Under the direction of the Youth Directors, this position will plan, organize and lead a wide variety of activities (in the areas of sports, arts & crafts, outdoor trips, educational and recreational games, tutoring) for youth ages 12 to 18. This position will also assist with all functions of the Youth Center and assist with the development and implementation of new programs.
Applicants for this position must be 22 years or older. The position requires a supervisory and disciplinary relationship over minors. This position also requires the ability to lead and participate in active sports and games and to monitor behaviors.
The specific responsibilities will include:
-Develop, implement and track educational programming for youth members.
-Develop, implement and track athletic programming for youth members.
-Exercise good skills in conflict resolution including the ability to problem solve and teach.
-Teach life skills.
-Exemplify positive role modeling for youth members.
-Supervise large groups of youth.
-Discipline youth members according to set YMCA procedures.
-Refer youth members to appropriate community resources (when needed).
- Assist in maintaining a safe envorinment.
-Oversee general cleanliness of YMCA and safety of YMCA equipment.
-Take over membership enrollment for Youth Program and report out monthly.
-Track numbers and demographics of youth using YMCA facilities.
-Create innovative merit based awards system.
-Attend weekly staff meetings and trainings.
