All women are invited to a wonderful monthly open mic, always the Third Thursday of
the month. This show is this Thursday, March 16th with your host Retts Scauzillo.
My special guest this month is the long awaited feature performance of K.C. Frogge, as well as a CD release party. K.C. is an incredibly-talented singer/songwriter whose debut acoustic CD, "FLYING SOLO," is enjoying plenty of praise as well as playing regularly on NTGR-FM radio ("All Women, All Day")... a mix of driving, all-original acoustic folk and country influenced rock songs, as well as beautiful ballads and intriguing stories. K.C.'s also a gifted photographer and writer with a unique new genre of poetry called "Pyramid Poetry". She'll be performing two 3-song sets of her original songs from "Flying Solo," and will be accompanied by musical guests on several: Percussionist Cate Larsen on "Life On Wheels" and "Comfortable Shoes,", lead guitarist Karen Mullally on "Comfortable Shoes," and pianist Shari Kline on "Dear Amanda", all current or former members of the Average Dyke Band. The "Flying Solo" CD and her Pyramid Poetry book, a two-in-one flip-book entitled "Pyramid Poetry; Pondering Paradise" and "Left Brain, Right Brain... It's ALL Thought", are available that evening at the intermission and after the show.
Additional noteworthy peformances at this show will include:
SHARI KLINE, will also play her amazingly rich piano concertos later in the program.
KAREN MULLALY is herself a quite talented singer/songwriter, and will perform selections from her debut CD "First Impressions", which will also be available at the show.
STEPHANIE REIF, dynamic and sultry singer and entertainer on dulcimer and percussion who will play both solo and with Shari Kline;
JENNIFER LIN, rising comedy sensation, bringing her unique brand of hilarious comedy as the "Asian Poster Bride" (asianposterbride DOT com); and
KAREN X, with her scintillating, simmering, intimate, "passion performance" poetry that will leave you begging for more (and you can take her debut CD, "Love Source", home that night!); and
CARRIE GERENDASY, a fret-smokin' acoustic guitarist, (and lead singer and electric bass player for the Average Dyke Band), will be serving up an "appetizer" preview in advance of her feature performance Saturday, March 18, at the monthly Queer Stuff Enterprises Showcase in Alameda at Spellbinding Tales.
Come to Montclair and check out this incredible lineup! There will also be several other performers gracing us with a potpourri of creative talents. Maybe one of them will be YOU!. So drop in for some laughs and bring your musical instrument, voice or any other unique talent you might have. Or come and be part of the audience.
Sign up is at 7pm, show is from 7:30 to 9:30 with an intermission, we ask that you keep your performance time to a 5-8 minute limit. We do not provide a sound system, but you can bring an amp or cd/tape player if you like and plug in. Come and support lesbian culture. It's always fun and entertaining. March is INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S MONTH so let's gather as women together!!! It's so powerful!
You can preview song clips from both "Flying Solo" and "First Impressions" CDs by logging onto cdbaby DOT com and searching the artist browser for K.C. Frogge and Karen Mullally. And check out K.C.'s website at kcfrogge DOT com under the "music" link for the great stories behind the song lyrics, and to hear full clips of each.
