Thanks for the replies everyone. I am the OP. Its funny how the women immediately assumed that I just sat on my ass. Quite the opposite. My wife does not work. She stays at home all day. I have a regular job, working generally from about 8 to 6. I do the groceries, the cleaning, the laundry. She cooks and looks after the kid. Thats it. Even though I work, when the kid cries at night, I'm the one who has to wake up and comfort it. She says the breast feeding wears her out so she needs her sleep.
As far as gifts go, yes I've done that and more. When I found out she was pregnant, I took her on a trip to London, because she always wanted to go, and we thought once we had the kid we wouldn't have a chance to really enjoy ourselves. Every birthday I buy her a trip to a bed and breakfast in Sonoma (I hate them, but I go with it because I know she loves B&Bs) plus get her spa certificates about every 3 months or so. She has never bought me a gift, even though she worked before the delivery. No wait, I think she bought me a pair of socks once.
I have to admit I never wanted kids. She did, so we decided to have one. I'm beginning to think more and more that this was a bad idea. It seems to me like having this kid has proven that my wife really doesn't love me, and actually just married me because I fit a certain profile - I was good looking, had a good job, made a good deal of money and had motile sperm.
Its been a year and 7 months since I've had sex of any kind. Hell, since someone other than myself even touched me below the belt. I'm going to give it another 5 months. If the situation stays the same, I'm out. Even though I never wanted kids, now that I have one, I will try to be a good father by supporting the child emotionally and financially. But I hope I can be one even if I am not married to my wife.
