About the position
The Senior Designer will join the Online Design Team, which handles all aspects of the design process, concepts through producing visual assets. You will work closely with Product Managers to define the requirements, and with Production Engineers to determine the best way to build the designs. Qualitative research is used throughout the process to ensure the highest quality customer experience.
Required Skills:
- 8+ years experience in conceptual design, detailed design and production work for a major online consumer product or service.
- Outstanding portfolio with engaging designs a must. ONLINE PORTFOLIO IS REQUIRED for consideration.
- Online design experience a must. This is not a print design position.
- Strong positioning skills of features and benefits is important, as well as general experience with marketing, graphic design, and online advertising.
- Experience interacting with product marketing managers to help define and refine product requirements.
- Experience working with engineers to collaborate on the production and QA processes.
- Able to develop design concepts, carry them forward, and produce pixel perfect production assets for development.
- Able to contribute to the establishment and ownership of design guidelines, and help manage and evolve them over time.
- Experience using qualitative research and testing in the design process.
- Ability to work in a fast-moving environment and produce results quickly and efficiently.
- Excellent team player with the maturity to advocate design and lead the process while servicing the needs of the other stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to listen to and understand the needs of others while articulating one’s own thoughts.
- Excellent understanding of consumer internet.
- Expert level skills and experience with Photoshop AND/OR Fireworks. Both is a plus.
Desired Skills:
- Flash skills.
- Illustration skills.
- Motion graphics skills.
- Understanding of HTML, DHTML, Javascript (but coding is NOT part of this job)
- A love of movies.
- Dynamic, rich, functional e-commerce website experience (such as, but not limited to, Amazon, Yahoo, Ebay) a big plus.
