Overview:
The Senior System Software Engineer will help design software and implement enabling technologies for our next generation of world-class handheld computing and smartphone devices. He/she must be confident in their technical judgment and insight, eager to learn, and comfortable discussing ideas and approaches with colleagues.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Design, implement, and maintain system-level software for smartphone devices
• Communicate with Marketing, Sales, Software Test, and User/Support groups to improve quality and enhance features
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 8 years of design and development of system-level software for PC, Macintosh, handheld/mobile computing devices or consumer electronic devices (MP3 players, Tivo, etc.)
• Minimum of 1 year of development experience with PalmOS (desired), PocketPC, embedded
• Linux, or other small-footprint, mobile, power-conscious devices
• High level of competence with C (expert coding skills) or C++
• Solid embedded development experience
• Understanding of software packaging and appreciation for software reuse
• Work closely with hardware in various stages of development including simulators and proto-boards
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively across departments including Marketing, Sales, and Quality Assurance
• Ability to work on multiple concurrent and overlapping projects
• Ability to quickly learn and adopt processes and procedures
• Thorough knowledge of and confidence with the software development process
• A track record of on-time delivery of successful consumer products
• Demonstrated commitment to quality
• Experience developing for handheld or wireless devices is a significant plus
Skills/Experience:
• Ability and willingness to work as part of a small (3-4 person) team
• Lead experience is highly desired
• Experience in design, development, test and release phases of superior quality software
• Experience with IDEs, memory architectures (NOR Flash, NAND Flash, and SDRAM), code management, and development tools
• Understanding of hardware/software integration and tradeoffs is a plus
• Collaborative and product-focused attitude is a must
Education:
• B.S. or higher degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience
Travel:
• Minimal travel is required for this position
