Senior Release Engineer
JOB DESCRIPTION
The PDS team is a small, quick-moving team responsible for the systems installed in every store in which Pure Digital cameras and camcorders are processed. These systems, individually, are complex applications that need to be simple to use, robust in operation, highly secure, complete in their ability to accept input from each of Pure Digitals cameras and produce as CDs, DVDs and prints as output. In producing these consumables the systems perform advanced image and video processing tasks that we need to continually improve, optimize and expand.
The PDS servers, however, are not just individual systems, they each form a node in a much larger, much more powerful system that is the entire Pure Digital platform. As such they regularly communicate their status, health and task information up to The Pure Digital centralized servers. On the downstream they receive remote jobs, new configurations and remote software upgrades. In conjunction with the PDN (Pure Digital Network) team, we continually refine these processes and add to them as new features are introduced.
TECHNOLOGIES USED IN THE PDS TEAM
The various responsibilities of the PDS team involve a host of different technologies. The primary development on and architecture of the PDS is done in C# using .NET. We make full use of the .NET framework: multithreading, remoting, reflection, diagnostic tools, interoperability, etc. The system is deployed on computers running Windows XP Embedded, and it is partially data-driven and configured using XML documents. In all cases we attempt to choose the tool or technology that best helps us realize a scalable, reliable, maintainable, easy to use and effective system.
A senior level position on the PDS team involves being jointly responsible for each of the systems that we deploy to thousands of retail locations. It involves being jointly responsible, along with the PDN team, for the overall ecosystem that is what Pure Digital delivers to its customers. We are seeking a senior engineer who can own and improve the build and release processes and systems for our entire range of software products.
INITIAL RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS POSITION WOULD BE:
Create a framework for a scalable build environment that supports a growing number of locales, features, hardware configurations and customers
Establish and own processes for the backend infrastructure deployment
Perform build and release to formal QA for customer products
Work with the QA organization to increase release efficiency
REQUIRED SKILLS
BSCS/EE or equivalent
Familiarity with source control systems
Good communication ability
Either C#, C++ or Java development
At least 3 years of experience as a release engineer
DESIRABLE SKILLS
Experience using scripting languages (PERL, BASH, etc
)
Working experience in Windows XP or Xpe
If this looks interesting, please send me a resume as an MS Word document
