Class 1244 Senior Personnel Analyst - Worker's Comp Specialty
The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) is seeking a qualified person to perform difficult and responsible professional and technical personnel work in the area of workers' compensation claims management.
Essential responsibilities for this position are:
• Knowledge of State of California Worker's Compensation Laws and related laws such as FMLA and ADA
• Review and analyze claims for workers compensation benefits
• Meet with Workers' Compensation Division adjusters, City attorneys to manage existing claims and related benefits, coordinate investigation of claims, interview witnesses and preparation of evidence for litigation.
• Provide advice to managers, supervisors and employees on issues regarding workers' compensation and related issues such as modified duty and alternative work programs.
• Coordinate return to work programs with operating divisions and vocational counselors, rehabilitation and ergonomics specialists, Health and Safety and/or with other HRS units.
• Meet with employees and managers to prepare job descriptions, including essential function analysis related to return to work programs.
• Develop internal policy and procedures and conducts training for supervisors on the correct procedures for filing claims, supervisory responsibilities, proper documentation and timelines.
• Maintain communication and works with SFGH and other occupational health care providers.
• Prepare various statistical and analytical reports, communicates orally and in writing with employees, managers and supervisors.
• Gather, prepare, compile, review and maintain important HR information for various reports and records.
This position requires possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university AND three (3) years of verifiable professional personnel experience equivalent to the level of City class 1241 Personnel Analyst, including experience with Word processing, e-mail and other applications in a network environment. Experience with Excel spreadsheets and Access database is desirable.
Substitution:
1) Additional qualifying work experience as a professional personnel analyst may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis (30 semester/45 quarter units equals one year).
2) The following specific advanced degrees may substitute for one year of the required work experience: MS in Human Resources Management, MS in Industrial/ Organizational Psychology, MPA in Public Administration, MBA in Business Administration with emphasis in Organizational Behavior.
3) The following specific advanced degrees may substitute for two years of the required work experience: Juris Doctor acquired from an ABA accredited institution, Ph.D in Industrial/Organizational Psychology.
SPECIAL CONDITION REQUIREMENT:
This position requires a minimum of one (1) year Workers Compensation experience. Experience must be described on application.
