The Taproot Foundation is seeking a dynamic business development professional to lead our efforts to recruit highly skilled business professionals to donate their time and skills in service to the nonprofit community. The Taproot Foundation has demonstrated an unparalleled ability to leverage the efforts of business professionals to strengthen nonprofit organizations and our success is fueling a need to further scale volunteer recruitment. The Senior Manager for Volunteer Programs will have bottom line quantity and quality responsibility for volunteer recruitment in the Bay Area.
To drive growth, he or she will focus primarily on forming new strategic partnerships with targeted Fortune 500, trade associations, graduate school alumni associations and other organizations that have existing relationships with our targeted prospective volunteers. Current partners include Chevron, IBM, Time Warner, Lehman Brothers, and Monster.com. He or she will lead staff to leverage these partnerships into successful channel marketing programs to generate volunteer applications. He or she will also be responsible for generating contributed revenue through a limited number of these strategic partnerships. This position reports to the Managing Director of the Bay Area office.

Since 2002, the Taproot Foundation has engaged over 1,750 business professionals to deliver an estimated market value of $12 million in pro bono services to nonprofits in New York and the San Francisco Bay Area.
Core Responsibilities
Identify volunteer recruitment needs; develop and implement the effective volunteer recruitment strategies for the Bay Area office.
Establish and meet quotas on activating new volunteers in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with Fortune 500 and other companies, graduate school alumni associations, trade associations and career services providers.
Generate income through contributed revenue and sponsorships with select partners.
Leverage the resources and relationships of our Bay Area Advisory Board, relevant National Board members, key executive-level volunteers, and existing reference accounts.
Renew and expand existing partnerships to increase results.
Manage staff responsible for supporting existing and new partners, creating and implementing ongoing partner marketing programs, and generating reporting and forecasting of program outcomes.
Coordinate with other Taproot Foundation offices to share best practices and build organizational competency in recruitment.
Experience / Skills
5+ years of business development and/or program management experience with a successful track record of closing and maintaining strategic partnerships
Proven track record in meeting and exceeding quantifiable sales or other targets
Record of effective staff management
Experience creating effective channel marketing programs for lead generation, sales or website traffic
Exceptional oral and written communicator; strong public speaker and presenter
Commitment to the community as demonstrated by history of volunteer work, board service or nonprofit employment experience
Flexibility and ability to work effectively in a highly entrepreneurial nonprofit environment
Compensation
The salary for this position is $65,000. The compensation package includes two weeks of vacation per year, generous holiday leave, and medical benefits.
