Senior Firmware Engineer - Camcorder Team
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Pure Digital Camcorder team is a small, quick-moving group responsible for the design and development of one-time use and Multi use digital camcorders. The design team is located in our Santa Clara office.
Pure Digital camcorders are simple to use, robust in design, and low in cost. They produce high-quality video using advanced compression technologies. The cameras are processed using the Pure Digital Processing servers deployed at major retail outlets and pharmacies. The video is transcoded to produce an easy to use DVD which is playable in all standard home players. We need to continually reduce the cost and improve the performance of next generation camcorders so as to increase the market for our new memory capturing systems.
A senior level position on the Camcorder team involves being responsible for each of the cameras we develop with our internal and external partners. These responsibilities include working with both members of the engineering team and other departments in the organization. They include the maintenance and continual refinement of existing camcorder functionality. They include the design and implementation of new technologies that expand the features and benefits or our cutting-edge products. You will interface with third-party technology providers, and further the company's reputation for ease of use and overall product robustness.
TECHNOLOGIES USED IN THE PURE DIGITAL CAMCORDERS
The primary development and architecture of the camera is embedded firmware written in C. We use RTOS systems with multi-threaded operations such as video and audio capture, UI display, and Host Interfaces such as USB. The cameras use CMOS Imagers and Lens systems which are controlled to produce well exposed and color balanced videos.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Key contributor for Video Image Capture embedded firmware
• Develop firmware for digital video cameras
• Support algorithm development and Camera User Interface and control
• Design and develop firmware for Compression and Storage of Images
• Develop code in C language.
REQUIRED SKILLS
• 5+ years development on Embedded Firmware systems, preferably with exposure to imaging technologies such as digital cameras or camcorders
• Ability to understand and effectively own an existing firmware design
• Demonstrable design skills; ability to discuss design rationale
• Significant expertise in embedded C firmware for consumer products
• Education: BS in CS or EE, or related field required, MS CS or EE preferred
