We are currently seeking a senior-level Financial Analyst in our San Ramon office.
GENERAL SUMMARY: This position is responsible for supporting price analysis and profitability analysis, creation and delivery, financial reporting, variance analysis, budget preparation, forecast, and economic research and analytics which impacted over $1B in sales and $60M in expenses. Worked closely with senior sales and marketing executives and their team to assist in the preparation of financial models, performed different analysis, included but not limited to, scenario and sensitivity analysis, pricing, promotions, traffic and overhead expenses.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Pricing Analysis and Reporting (40%)
Analyze revenue by price units and mix for the different products within the different categories. Identify results according to the price discounts, promotions, advertising and traffic. Create Peoplesoft layouts that facilitate the analysis of products. Participate in the creation of different slide presentations as needed.
Create different models for price sensitivity and scenario analysis.
2. Monthly Reporting, Analysis, and Forecasting (30%)
Ownership of revenue all monthly reporting, analysis and forecasting. Specific responsibilities will include compiling data from various sources into consolidated, actionable reporting. Create new reports in People soft which include new products, accounts and divisions.
Ownership of analysis for marketing overhead P&L which include variance analysis, scenario and sensitivity analysis, re-forecasting, and preparation and delivery of exception reporting to senior management.
3. Preparation of Annual Budget (20%)
Responsibilities include participate in the development of annual budgets for revenue and some division overheads. Specifically, combining historical financial and pricing results, external resources, and input from senior management to develop annual budgets. Specific tasks include significant data manipulation in Peoplesoft, Khalix Planning application, Access as well significant analysis using Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint. Also, frequent interaction with business owners, including senior executives, to ensure development of a comprehensive plan that incorporates cross divisional input.
Develop financial models per club that facilitate the budget allocation of the revenue and expenses. Models will be built for revenue by club and product and for expenses by club, GL accounts, product codes, and marketing regions.
4. Economic and Statistical analysis and reporting (10%)
Produce clear and concise written explanation of Economic Indicators for all regions on a monthly basis. Accurate report and analyze statistics for all regions.
Update and maintain the model for club list by marketing region, division, category, and type on a weekly basis for accurate reporting and analysis.
Provide any ad hoc traffic analysis and reporting as needed.
ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS: This position will interface frequently with divisional management in Production, Operations and Fitness as well as key business owners at home office. Additionally, there will be daily interaction with both the Finance and Accounting staffs. This position will not have any direct reports.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1) Knowledge, skills & abilities:
Demonstrate strong analytical, conceptual, creative, and practical problem solving skills.
Experience in scenario, sensitivity, price consumption, demographics analyses necessary.
Comfortable with Financial and Statistical theories such as NPV, IRR, ROI, Correlation Coefficient, Standard Deviation.
Proven success in planning and attaining organizational objectives.
Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and independently, setting own priorities.
Proven experience creating sophisticated Excel spreadsheets, Access databases, and PowerPoint presentations.
Solid planning and forecasting software experience preferred using Peoplesoft or SAP, Hyperion or Khalix, and Oracle.
Flexibility, open to change and willing to learn new skills.
Ability to manage the responsibilities under pressure.
Exceptional detail and accuracy orientation.
Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills a must. Must be customer service orientated
2) Minimum certifications/educational level:
Bachelors degree in Finance or Economics. Master degree in Finance or Economics preferred.
3) Minimum experience:
4 to 5 years of experience in pricing, budget preparation, forecast, variance analysis, marketing analysis.
4) Physical Requirements:
This position is classified as sedentary work that consists of exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.
Equipment and special materials needed to perform this task: computer, telephone, pen, copier, calculator, and printers.
