Job Requirements: We are looking for an entry-level Visual Basic Programmer with 0-2 years experience in developing, supporting and maintaining applications within Microsoft VB6 and SQL 2000 environments. Candidate must be able to analyzes, designs, develops, tests, implements and maintains client/server applications to meet functional objectives of the business. Candidate must have the ability to work with users to gather user requirements, review and analyze code to determine the best solution to complete the task. In addition, candidate must be willing to learn Microsoft .Net, SQL 2005, and Visual Studio 2005.
Systems Environment: The District Attorney’s Office has an installed base of approximately 400 computers and 16 servers. Operating systems and applications include: Windows NT/2000/XP, Windows 2000/2003 server, Exchange 2003, SQL 2000, Microsoft Office Suite (97, 2000, XP, and 2003), and WordPerfect (8, 10, and 11).
Examples of Duties: Duties may include, but are not necessarily limited to the following:
• Reviews, analyzes, and modifies programming systems including encoding, testing, debugging and documenting programs.
• Maintains databases and develops procedure to insure the integrity of the database and fixes database related problems.
• Develops and deploys solutions to improve operations.
• Collaborates with team to identify processes for improvement.
• Researches new solutions or improvements to existing systems.
• Provides support for end-users.
• Consults with key users to determine the priorities of requested tasks on a regular basis.
• Provides status reports to managers.
• Performs other related duties and services as directed by the Information Technology Manager.
Minimum Qualifications: Working knowledge using Microsoft Enterprise Manager, Query Analyzer, and Seagate Crystal Reports. Must be proficiency in Visual Basic or other scripting languages, SQL 2000 server, Transact SQL, COM+, MTS, SourceSafe, MS Access with sub-classing, Outlook Object Model, and Word Object Model. Must have strong understanding of the concepts of relational databases, and experience with client/server applications.
License: Possession of a valid California driver’s license is required.
