COURSE PROJECT:
Software System Engineering Project (VB/Visio/PowerPoint/Word)
Our team of six software engineers designed and implemented a Home Heating System according to an imaginary client’s requirements. We went through the concept of operations, requirements analysis, design and test planning phases of the software development lifecycle. My responsibilities include the design phase and test phase, and I cooperated with teammates on the requirement phase. All documents we produced followed IEEE standards.
Database Design & Implementation (Oracle)
Teamed up with two other students to design and implement a distributed business database system for a fictional supermarket chain using Oracle 8i. The fictional supermarket chain sells foodstuffs and household goods from stores throughout California. The business database system is designed to monitor stocks and sales of the products sold at its stores, and to hold information about its customers and their purchases.
Operating Systems (C/Unix)
Wrote C programs to play with low-level Unix system calls like open, read/write, fork, execvp, waitpid, pipe, sigaction etc. Wrote C program to implement semaphores and monitors for Unix inter-process communication. Modified the kernel of Minix OS (a simplified standalone Unix OS for PC) to change the process scheduling from “Round Robin Scheduling” to “Lottery Scheduling”.
Internet Socket Programming (Perl/Java/Unix)
Wrote a UDP client program in Perl. Wrote a TCP ATM Client, Middle Ware, and Server program in Perl. Wrote a TCP client program in Java.
Simple RISC Computer Simulator (Verilog)
Wrote a Verilog program that does the abstract RTN simulation of the SRC instruction set. Implemented the control unit with a microcode engine
