Description I am a student at the University of Glasgow, and am looking for information on groups and organisations that would have been frequented by Scottish Gaelic speakers. I believe some Gaels settled in the Mission District, so there may have been Gaelic church services in that area. I am also writing a dissertation on Seumas MacGaraidh, also known as James Carr MacDonald Hay. He emigrated from Scotland in 1923, and lived in San Bruno. He set up a Gaelic class at Hotel Stewart on Geary St, which later moved to USF, and became known as An Sgoil Ghaidhlig. He also helped to set up the a San Francisco Gaelic Mod, held at the Druids Temple. I think it ran between 1943 and 1950. Any information on the above would be much appreciated.
