Digital, wireless and programmable controls specialties.

Background and Historical summary:

President and Principal Engineer, P. Scott Inc. Los Angeles Calif. Design / Build Mechanical Engineering & Construction. HVAC and industrial refrigeration specialties, marine food, electronics, nuclear, aerospace, Ultra low temperature specialties through
1981... 27 employees at peak. Contract Engineering, commercial HVAC and electrical construction and design build specialty equipment, 1982 to present.

1998 to 2006:
(Company name withheld pending interview) design build contractors. On a project basis. Large tonnage HVAC, cooling tower installations, refrigeration and electronics fab projects. I provide some of the estimating, engineering and project management involved in their projects, both mechanical and electrical (controls etc). There are projects ongoing and a continuing relationship but on a smaller scale will probably be continued on a telecommute basis, depending.. Located in Northern Calif.
Reference: L Flores

1998 to 2001 Davids Finest foods. HVAC and Refrigeration systems engineering and construction. Including large scale ice machines. Associated electrical work. Reference. D Findlay, contact number available to hiring manager. Some occasional work on a continuing basis.

TAD Technical Services. 1998-1999. Large scale ammonia refrigeration for Anheuser Busch in Fairflield Calif. Working for Blymeyer Engineers, Alameda Calif. My responsibilities included avoidance of down time during system remodel and retrofit. 6000 tons (approx 7500 horsepower) system. 35 deg F to minus 90 F cascade carbon dioxide system. Reference: TAD I believe sold, files over 7 years are discarded, I have the W-2 forms though.

Texas Instruments in Dallas. On contract through Total Technical Services and Rytech in Dallas. 1995- 1998 roughly. These were consulting assignments, I worked for several other companies in this time frame (detailed below). For Texas Instruments I did clean room design, engineering, calculations and drawing production…and construction management. HVAC, Refrigeration, all kinds of duct systems, sheet metal, fiberglass and toxic scrubbed exhaust etc. DI water and process gas piping. Reference Robt Reynolds, PE, in the South Building. Total Technical Services discards files after 7 years. I have the W-2 forms.

There are over 40 projects all together, this summary is representative.
Repeat contracts for Jacobs, Fluor Daniel engineers and several others no doubt that I’ve forgotten. My career goal had been not to settle in, but to get as broadly experienced as possible. The following engineering contract firms have hired me repeatedly: Aerotek, Volt, DLD, Total Technical Services, Rytech, Butler, AIDE, and TAD… my reputation in the industry has been that of a ‘fixer’.. project turn around, and getting new business in some markets.

Enterprise Oil project for Stone Webster Engineers in Houston, explosion proof computer control center, resin and charcoal scrubbed supply air, blast panels.

Standard Oil, a Process Chiller in Los Angeles.

At Texas Instruments I did the engineering and project management on a full range of facilities projects, all the options analysis studies, and calculations etc, assembled the construction teams and managed the projects. Clean rooms to class 10, micro environments to class 1, HVAC, de-ionized water, ultra high purity systems for gasses, and acids, large scale liquid nitrogen systems, and acid exhausts, tool hook up etc. Primary specialties are HVAC, clean rooms, labs, process cooling, piping and refrigeration however.

Retained by Hudson McDermott Engineers to advise on the liabilities of oil drilling platform HVAC systems in Arctic environments, scope and estimate HVAC systems for the Sakhalin Island project (6 platforms, 4 onshore complexes ). 1993, Houston, Texas

Designed / Built explosion proof cascade chiller, minus 110 deg. F for Monsanto Chemical, 1994. numerous private industrial HVAC construction projects.. Ammonia Refrigeration for Pillsbury, Fluor Daniel, Anheuser Bush, most major oil refiners. 6 page resume detailing that experience available to primary employer with strong interest in style and approach I discuss in this summary.

IBM, Burlington Vermont, 25 million dollar RISC chip clean room facility, HVAC systems would not operate viably on start-up, + 1/10 deg F tolerance required. Retained to research the problem and produce report, and recommendations. Chicago. 1989 LBK and assc Chicago.

Retained by Southern California Edison company to write the HVAC/R engineering options training manual and computer algorithm for their in-house engineers training program, and conduct training programs for staff of customer service engineers in co-generation, thermal storage, heat pump, CFC's issues, and systems configuration options. 1991, Ventura, Ca.

US Dept of Energy Nuclear Weapons complex shut down because of unsafe containment systems evidenced by hundreds of pounds of plutonium oxide caked to the insides of the exhaust ducts and stacks discharging to the atmosphere, and holes in HEPA filters. Retained to study and revise the HEPA filter, and containment strategy for the plutonium Finishing Plant, Hanford Washington. 1991, ongoing input through 1994.

The following is a list of companies I’ve done projects for as a design build contractor, contract engineer, or consultant.

National Semi conductor, IBM, Intel, Granger, Perkin Elmer, Jacobs Engineers, Fluor-Daniel, Standard Oil, Indo Pacific Fish Company (marine blast freezer design build), H Salt Esq. Hilton, Sheraton, Embassy Suites, Marriot, Radisson Suites, and many other hotels. Daikin Kogyo (product Development and seminars nationally), Cruvinet (developed wine and pressurized champagne by the glass systems), Aero Jet General Corporation (rocket engine test facility cooling module), General Dynamics, Boeing, Northrop Aircraft, Martin Marietta, Teledyne, Gallo Wines, Woodbridge winery and others Anheuser Busch Company (large scale ammonia refrigeration), Green Giant, Sea Land (refrigerated containers), Madison Marquette (artificially intelligent monitoring system, I designed a satellite wireless version for demonstration purposes), LBK Engineers, Borden Foods (plant layout and refrigeration), Pillsbury (ammonia refrigeration plant), Safeway and other super markets, Texas Instruments, US postal service (computer room cooling and cooling tower work). A and A Mechanical in San Jose for R Linton who is 75 and consulting for NASA now. And many much smaller projects for smaller companies. Such as Luchessi Cheese company. Hy-C-Tane Corp. (tuna boat brine freezers) and Craig Meat Packers, various produce and fruit packers in the Sacramento Valley, KFC, many smaller marine refrigeration projects when I was starting out as a mechanical contractor.

Other skills:

Computer literate, most load programs, word processing, graphics, AutoCAD 14, to levels sufficient for management, editing and definition of layers and protocols etc, I currently do my own CAD work. I am successful with engineering and design across a broad range of applications and options, planning, level of detail, integration and drawing layout strategies, specifications, construction logistics, project management, *staff training, and cost containment in the industrial market especially.

Note to recruiters:
I am looking to finish out the last 10 years of my career with steady employment. Up until this time most of my activity has been project assignments and self employment via various engineering and construction contracts.

I am fit and healthy, an active sportsman with no disqualifiers in my background.

Sincerely, Philip E Scott
