We are currently looking for a Resident Manager/Handy man for the Parker Apartments, a 16 unit apartment community.  The Parker Apartments are located at 2414 Parker Street & Telegraph in Berkeley.   

 

We are looking for a Resident Manager to perform the following duties:

 

- Janitorial/Minor Maintenance: The hallways need to be kept clear of trash and must be cleaned at least once a week.  In addition, the front of the building should be swept periodically. Light bulbs, smoke detector batteries need to be changed, etc.

 

- Gardening: The front of the building need to be periodically watered and weeds need to be pulled.

 

- Occasional After Hours Showings: Normally the property management company handles showing the available units.  However, occasionally the resident managers will help the leasing agent by showing a unit when the agent is unavailable.  Though, we are currently completely leased up.

 

- Handle After Hours Emergencies: In the event of a major emergency repair, the Resident Manager will contact the appropriate vendor and be available to let the person in the affected unit(s). 

 

- Let Locked Out Tenants Into Their Units: The Resident Manager will have access to the keys to let a tenant in.

 

- Meet with Utilities for Installs:  Facilitate access for PGE, Cable, etc as needed.

 

- Deliver Notices: The Resident Manager will be provided a Fax Machine.  Occasional 24 hour notices, etc. will be faxed.  These notices need to be posted on the tenant's door.

 

- Repairs: The Resident Manager will perform minor plumbing and electrical repairs, as well as unit improvements during turnovers. 

 

Applicants should have the following skills/traits:

 

- Ability to perform the above mentioned duties.

 

- Is generally at home or in the area during the evenings and weekends. 

 

- Likes to interact with their community.

 

- Proficient in minor plumbing, electrical, and other handyperson skills. 

 

Compensation:

 

The Resident Manager will receive $600 off his/her rent, plus $7 per hour for work performed.   The position requires a minimum of 70 Hours Per Month, any additional hours are paid at $20 per hour.

 

Accommodations:

 

Currently, we have a large two bedroom available.  This unit has huge bedroom, gigantic walk-in closet outside of the bedrooms.  Balcony, Granite Countertops in the Kitchen, Gated Parking.  The market rent is $1,750, if you work all of the expected hours, you will receive $1090 off the rent and only pay but you only pay $660.  The following is a description of the place:
