WIT Gulf Region Program Background
Women in Technology (WIT) Gulf Region, funded by the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) of the United States Department of State, is managed by the Institute of International Education (IIE) West Coast Center and implemented in collaboration with partners in the Gulf Region. WIT is designed to build the capacity of organizations serving women in Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. The program delivers five core activities to participants and partner organizations: 1) Soft Skills Training 2) Cost-Recovery Model/Business Training 3) IT Training 4) IT Clubs 5) Professional Exchange and Capacity Building.
Purpose of Position:
To support the WIT Gulf Region program and team including communications and correspondence, research and program publicity. To support Senior Program Officers, Senior Program Coordinator, in-country Managers, Technical Directors and partners. To research and develop resources for program partners and participants. To coordinate translation of program website, materials and communications as required.
Principal Responsibilities:
1. Provide support to Senior Program Coordinator, Senior Program Officers and in-country Managers, Technical Directors and partners
2. Correspond with in-country partners providing assistance with Arabic documents as needed
3. Work with in-country partners and Senior Program Coordinator to develop press releases, participant profiles, program news and other sections for the participant area of website
4. Work with Technical Associate and translators to update participant profiles, program news, calendars, resources on WIT Gulf Region and individual country websites
5. Conduct research and develop resources for program; enter into program database and disseminate information to partners
6. Assist with report writing and presentation preparation
Qualifications: Education/Experience/Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree required (Middle Eastern Studies, Arabic Language, International Affairs/Development, Int’l Business, Int’l Education, etc.); Master’s degree preferred
• Proficiency in spoken and written Arabic; native speaker preferred
• Experience living, working or studying in the Middle East or North Africa especially in program countries
• Excellent computer skills including proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite and internet research
• Excellent writing skills
• Detail oriented
• Fluency in English
