It does not require "careful listening" (or a careful reading of the subtitles) to discern that she is a Secularist ... this is how she identifies herself. More precisely ... she says that she does not believe in the "supernatural". Which I would extend to include: flying saucers, faith healing, animal worship, astrology, feng-shui, etc.
But she also speaks Arabic, and quotes Islam/Qur'an extensively. Her secular knowledge is firmly coupled with her Islamic knowledge. She was born a Muslim, and has clearly studied Islam. It is because of her innate knowledge of Islam, that she can speak with authority and understanding - when she calls it a Medievil Religion. Stuck in the Middle Ages. Un-reformed by modern thought.
Despite her obvious Secularism, she does not call for the END to Islam, Judiasm, Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Shinto ... or Feng-shui. She says to her Muslim bretheren that: "you are free to worship whoever you want", but that "other peoples beliefs are not your concern". Live and let live. Simple. Obvious. She admonishes Islam to "Let people have their beliefs". And she appropriately states that you may: "Believe in stones, so long as you do not throw them at me"
What you are missing in your attempt to equate all other religions with this world's remnant scourge of Medievil Islam ... is one key element ... ALL other religions of the world have been able to REFORM their belief systems.
Christianity, and all other world religions have gone through radical reformations. They have changed and adapted to modern science, industrialization, social reorganization, and ethics. And they have done this all without rejecting their faith in exchange for agnosticism or secularism.
Christianity, for example, embraced the invention of the printing press. Rather than fight against technological innovation, Christianity actually flourished and improved ... because of it. The words of Christ, the parables, the stories, and the interpretation of these messages were mass-distributed to the faithful. Christians started reading and thinking for themselves. They threw-off the smothering influence of their religious "leaders" and started learning ALL of the BIBLE (Thank you Martin Luther).
Islam must now, throw-off the smothering influence of their Imams who foment HATE, VIOLENCE, DEATH, DESTRUCTION, and a return to Medievil sensibilities. Islam must reform itself.
We are not engaged in a global war against some random fanatics who burn churches. We are engaged in a global war against fundamentalist Islam who has declared (and re-declared) war against everyone and everything that does not bow to holy Islam.
You must really try to think beyond the mind-numbing sloganeering of your leftist college professors. You must consider the axe that they are grinding - when they teach you that the unrest in Ireland has anything to do with religion. It is a political struggle against British rule in Ireland.
You must really try to think beyond a 2-hour emotionally manipulative Hollywood Fictional account of historic events, before you equate Israels stated policy of specific and targeted "retribution" against terrorist attacks, with the intentional mass-murder of innocent civilians.
Finally, I am completely mystified why as to why a self-avowed "Secular Humanist" would quote Jesus Christ's Sermon on the Mount in their epilogue statement: "Blessed are the peacemakers! For they shall inherit the Earth".
That printing press thingy, and now this internet thingy, have done a great job in spreading the words of Christ ! Vive Reformation !

If you listen carefully, the woman sez she is a secular humanist. She does not say she is Muslim. I agree with a lot of what she is saying... I am not a Muslim, a Christian fundamentalist, or a Jew. There are many people raised in these faiths that now believe what this woman is saying... that are secular humanists. She makes some generalized statements about Jews never blowing themselves up. She should watch the movie "Munich". Christians burned and bombed black churches in this country during the 1960's. There are Buddist sects that spread poison on subways in Japan. Certainly Northern Ireland has seen every bit of terrorist violence as the middle east. Every religion has its fanactics. G.W.Bush and the Christian right wing dirtbags bombing womens' health collectives are as fanatical as it gets! The drug dealers killing each other and the innocent over turf are the same thing! I have no respect for any of these because they solve the problem with violence. The rest of us wish to worship our higher power in peace and let others do the same. The rest of us want to go to work, our children to go to school, to play and travel in peace and safety. We want to earn respect for our deeds, as she says. Unfortunately, this evil world will always divide itself into factions that inevidable seek superior force as the answer to solving a confrontation. Hence the invasions of Afganistan, Iraq, the 12 day war, Vietnam or the Mexican war of 1848 for that matter. "Blessed are the peacemakers! For they shall inherit the Earth!"
