Record your demo FREE (santa cruz)

Title Record your demo FREE (santa cruz)
Category Computers & Electronics : Software
Created 03/15/06
Description Aspiring engineer with equipment and a room seeks bands to record. Any genre of music is ok, but the room I've got lends itself more to loud raw music than softer types, though I can do my best to accommodate.

Since you (presumably) don't have a demo, I'm interested in sitting in on a practice or coming to see a show to hear your sound and make sure that the recording session will actually be productive. If you do happen to have a demo or a myspace or something, a link should be fine, but I may still want to hear you practice or live.

If you're not at the stage where you can play a show yet, then this offer is not for you. Same goes for if you are a complete asshole (random spurts of rude behavior will be tolerated, provided they are at least a little bit funny). Sessions will take place on weekend days. My goal is to spend a Saturday recording and a Sunday mixing and finalizing the disc. Additional recording can be done Sunday if necessary.

If you're interested in more than just a demo, that's ok too, but understand that it will be recorded in a living room through a Tascam digital board, and that it may take multiple weekends. Photos can be taken of mic placements to make sure things are sounding the same between sessions.

Anyways, equipment and qualifications and whatnot:

software/hardware:
Pro Tools LE 7.0 (mixing)
Cubase LE (tracking)
Logic Express (misc)
Reaktor 5.0 (misc)
Digidesign mBox mk1
Tascam FW-1884 console (8 channel)

Mics:
AKG d112
Oktava MK-319
Sennheiser MD21
ShinyBox 23
Shure SM57
Studio Projects C1

There is also a basic drum kit here (snare, kick, tom, floor tom, ride, hihat, crash) (the drums are all gretsch, except the kick) as well as a Wurlitzer upright piano which needs to be tuned.

Amplifiers:
Fender Princeton 65 guitar amp
Crate BFX100 bass amp
Peavey little shit guitar amp with potentially nice sounding fuzz.

Other shit:
Chuck Collins Harmonic Peroclator copy (distortion pedal)
Boss EQ-7
Boss loop sampler
Line6 DL-4 (needs to be fixed)

Experience:
Mainly home-recording and recording practices for my band. I've had the opportunity to try out a lot of different mic placements in the room, and have gotten a pretty good idea for where things should go. I've also got a pretty good ear, if I do say so myself.
I interned for a summer and a little bit of the next one at this studio: (www.studiocitysound.com) and am currently studying electronic music at ucsc.

As you can see, I don't have a ton things to cite for experience. I do, however, have a good pair of ears and a pretty powerful lump of carbon between them. The experience is what I'm after and why I'm offering my services for no financial compensation.
