First, it's irrelevant whether Moore owns any stock in any company. His criticism of Bush and Hallicheney are all the rest are valid on their merits. The book mentioned does one of those rope-a-dope smear things. In this case, a non-profit foundation Moore had set up - run by a management firm in NYC - to generate revenue for investments in independent films *did* buy Hallicheney stock. They bought it, and sold it a year later for a loss. So, Moore never owned any stock, period. And the foundation he set up did own it briefly. This is just another right-wing smear job - if it's printed in 18,000 places, then it must be true, right? I actually tracked this one down - wasn't as easy as you might have expected.
Second, that Moore spends a lot of his time bashing Hallicheney would make one think that he'd want to be *pimping* that stock, not bashing it so it decreases in value. He's have to be shorting the stock. Difficult to do when you don't own any of it.
There are literally hundreds of posts on the internet about Moore and Halliburton stock - all making the same claims - mostly from right-wing sites, but also from some libertarian-type right-wing sites. Moore must saying some really threatening stuff. Read this thread to read the documentation behind the smear, yourself.
