Your post might might make sense to somebody that doesn't know any better. But you are talking that definetely knows better. I will address some of your points.
You posted: Laws and rules do not make themselves ethical. The person "driving slow" in the "fast lane" is either 1)not a good driver, 2)no common sense ability, 3)rude and obnoxious.
*** I hit on both points in my post. That of legality and that of courtesy. I was referring to somebody doing 65 in the #1 lane (Fast Lane). Legally, that doesn't constitue "driving slow". Granted I don't like to drive 65 mph in the #1 lane and while I do think it is rude if, and only if, there is somebody coming up behind them that is driving faster, that doesn't change the fact that there is nothing legally requiring them to move(See my points in the last post). I'm am simply pointing out the difference by legality and courtesy. I agree with you on the courtesy points just not the legality ones. Your post that referenced an article from Illinois is all fine and dandy, except we don't live in Illinois. We live in California and our vehicle code is different.
You posted: By your line of reasoning, the "smart" driver who, in the fast lane goes slower or at the same speed as a semi-truck immediately to their right, is ok..and correct for doing so, when common sense tells me I would rather speed up and pass the semi, because it's not common sense to be driving along side a huge vehicle with 12 wheels.
*****I never referred to anybody doing the same or slower speed as a semi-truck to their right. My example was somebody driving 65 mph in the #1 lane "Legally speaking not a slow driver" and the fact that they are not required to move over. If somebody was driving the same speed or slower than the semi then the semi-truck would be speeding "They have a maximum speed limit of 55 mph at all times when in tow of a trailer" or the driver in the #1 lane needs to move over because they are only doing 55 mph and in that case are legally required to move to the right.
You posted: No sweat off of my back, but you still have the slow people who just as many, if not more accidents, as "speeders" doing 75 mph in a 65 zone.
****I think, no I know you are way off on this one. I have yet to take a collision report where somebody was a fault for driving 65 mph in the #1 lane and not committing any violations. I have however, taken more reports than I can count where the person at fault was following too closely "tailgating" or driving at an unsafe safe speed for conditions.
To end this, you need to re-read my post. I explained how the person in the #1 lane at 65 mph is legally in the right, but as far as courtesy they are in the wrong and I believe I explained it quite clearly in that post.
